DATA STORY: India's active Covid cases down 72.3% from peak at 281,919

India on Friday reported a net reduction of 1,930 to bring its count of active coronavirus cases down to 281,919, the lowest since July 10 and 72.3 per cent lower than the September 18 peak of 1,017,754. With a continuous trend of daily reductions, India’s share of global active coronavirus cases is down at 1.29 per cent (one in 78). The country added 23,067 cases to take its total caseload to 10,146,845. And with 336 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 147,092, or 1.45 per cent of total confirmed infections.
