The Delhi High Court today sought response from police on a bail plea of Dinesh Yadav, the owner of the bus in which the 23-year-old girl was gangraped on December 16, in a case of cheating and forgery.

Issuing notice to police, Justice Mukta Gupta sought the response by May 1 on the bail plea of Yadav, 35, and also sought a status report by the next date of hearing.

Yadav, arrested since January 2, sought bail on the ground of parity saying co-accused Rakam Singh has already been granted bail in the case.

Police had registered a case of cheating and forgery under various sections of IPC against Yadav. They said he had submitted false information to the State Transport Department to get the registration certificate and the permit for the bus.

Challenging the trial court's March 12 order dismissing his bail petition, Yadav in his plea said he was in no way connected to the incident.

The 23-year-old girl was gangraped in the moving bus in south Delhi and died in a hospital in Singapore on December 29.
