Isro launches another remote sensing satellite

Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) launched its Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV)-C36, carrying a remote sensing satellite, RESOURCESAT-2A. The satellite will aid in natural resource management. This is the 37th successful mission in a row of the PSLV series. The number of satellites launched by PSLV is now 122, of which 43 are Indian and the other 79 are from abroad.

Wednesday’s rocket blast-off was from the launch pad at Sriharikota, off the Andhra coast near Chennai. The satellite weighs 1,235 kg. After a 17-minute flight, synchronous orbit took place at a height of 824 km. And, 47 seconds later, RESOURCESAT-2A was separated from the PSLV fourth stage.
