State Bank of India (SBI) chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya today visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency of Varanasi.
Under its ongoing association with the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan', she - on the behalf of SBI - dedicated two toilets to Shivapur school in Varanasi.
In Varanasi and the adjoining areas like Sarnath, SBI is facilitating construction of 64 toilets in 35 schools allotted by the district authorities. Of these, toilets in 15 schools are ready, while the remaining would be completed by the end of June.
The construction and maintenance work of these toilets has been entrusted by SBI to Sulabh Sanitation Mission Foundation, a sister concern of Sulabh International run by Padma Bhushan Bindeshwar Pathak.
Besides, Sulabh will sensitise the students and teachers in these schools about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene.
