The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership lashed out at the Congress party and blamed it for political uncertainty arguing that United Progressive Alliance (UPA) was falling apart because of its own deeds and opposition parties were not responsible for destabilizing the union government.
Senior BJP leaders are of the view that UPA had faced problems because of differences with former alliance partner West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and now it was facing difficulties because Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and BJP was not responsible for it.
“Congress party is falling because of its decisions and it is not the duty of the BJP to protect the government. UPA is a sinking ship. Everyday UPA alliance partners are attacking it on the decisions taken by the union government,” said Nitin Gadkari, BJP President, while addressing the members of the national executive in Surajkund, Haryana.
Gadkari elaborated that because of the continuous political uncertainty in the country, Lok Sabha elections can happen any day and the opposition parties were not sure if the union government would be able to complete its full term or not.
Blaming Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for the economic decisions and corruption allegations surrounding the union government, BJP leaders said that if scams related to allocation of coal blocks, 2G spectrum allocation and Commonwealth Games are put together, UPA government has caused a massive loss of Rs.4.86 lakh crore to exchequer.
“The UPA government has institutionalised corruption in the country and it is the most corrupt government since independence. The government has attacked democratic and constitutional institutions like Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to derail the probe,” Gadkari said at the national executive.
BJP leaders also questioned if Congress party had also received money in coal block allocation scam and said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi should not blame opposition parties if the union government is unable to bring major reforms or development.
“Yashwant Sinha is heading the standing committee on finance and the committee has given 11 reports on crucial Bills, how many of these Bills has the union government been able to bring in Parliament? BJP is not against development and states ruled by BJP are examples where the average growth percentage is more than 11 percent,” Gadkari explained.
