The chief minister Naveen Patnaik today announced in the state assembly that strong action will be taken against those who will be found guilty in the allegation of illegal manganese mining by a company in Keonjhar district.
The opposition Congress and BJP had stalled the proceedings of the house for last three days demanding CBI enquiry into the issue.
“State vigilance department will enquire into the allegation with due seriousness and stern action will be taken against the guilty persons”, the chief minister assured.
Making a statement in the assembly, Patnaik said, several members have been agitating on the floor of the house for last few days on the issue of illegal mining of manganese ore by Ram Bahadur Thakur Ltd near Joda in Keonjhar district.
The steel and mines minister has already replied to the debate and has indicated that there will be an enquiry by the secretary, steel and mines department, into the matter and appropriate action will be taken against those who are found guilty.
