The Congress on Monday demanded a special session of parliament to declare Pakistan a terrorist state, while targeting the government over its lackadaisical approach in handling national security.

"The Congress demands that a special one-two day session of Parliament be called to discuss the security situation and more particularly to declare Pakistan a terrorist state," Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said at an AICC briefing.

Noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent speech in Kerala demonstrated strategic ambiguity, the Congress leader pointed out that the previous United Progressive Alliance government had taken several measures to strengthen the security apparatus after the ghastly 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in 2008.
