DoT forms panel to examine Trai's view

Trai has said India should adopt APT700 band plan for 700-MHz spectrum band with Feature-driven development based frequency arrangements

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has formed a committee to examine the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on International Mobile Telecommunications-Advanced Mobile Wireless Broadband Services.The committee has been asked to submit a report within a month.

Trai’s recommendations —given on March 19, 2013 —mainly dealt with duplexing schemes and band plan of 700 MHz (698-806 MHz). The regulator has recommended that India adopt APT700 band plan for the 700 MHz spectrum band with feature-driven development-based frequency arrangements.The committee, chaired by Anil Kaushal, member (technology), DoT, will have eight more members. It may also invite experts’ opinion, if required. The committee may also seek further recommendations from Trai as well as from service providers.
