Exports in FY08 up 23%, miss $160bn target

During the 2007-08 financial year exports increased by 23.02 per cent to reach $155.51 billion compared with $126.41 billion in 2006-07. The value of exports during the year missed the target of $160 billion due to the appreciating value of the rupee against the dollar.
Trade deficit during 2007-08 stood at $80.39 billion.
