A Pakistan-led group has expressed concern over US President Barack Obama's endorsement of India's bid for permanent membership of the UN Security Council, saying that it would complicate the process of reform of the world body.

The Uniting for Consensus group, which opposes the expansion of the permanent members of the Security Council, has expressed "serious concern" about President Barack Obama's endorsement of India's candidacy for the Security Council, according to diplomats here.

The UfC, led by Pakistan and Italy, has decided to meet the president of UN General Assembly Joseph Deiss tomorrow to convey their concern over President Barrack Obama announcement in the Indian Parliament.

The group, which only supports expansion of the non-permanent seats, argues that the recent development complicates the issue of the Security Council reform, the details of which are still highly contentious with little consensus.
