Panel for moratorium on GM food trials

In a report, an expert committee appointed by the Supreme Court to assess the safety of genetically-modified crops, has recommended a 10-year moratorium on field trials of BT transgenics, especially food crops. Such a moratorium, enforced by former environment minister Jairam Ramesh, is already in place.
