Retail inflation for items consumed by agricultural and rural labourers declined in September compared to the previous month, a trend contrary to the overall consumer price inflation.
The consumer price index (CPI) for agricultural labourers declined to 12.78 per cent in September, from 13.21 per cent in August and for rural labourers, it plunged to 12.44 per cent from 12.89 per cent, according to data released on Saturday by the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
Food inflation for items consumed by rural and agricultural labourers stood at 13.27 per cent and 13.08 per cent, respectively. In September, the overall CPI-based inflation stood at a three-month high of 9.84 per cent, compared to 9.52 per cent in the previous month.
