State postal circle targets Rs 140 cr business in 2009-10

The Orissa postal circle has targeted a total business of Rs 140 crore in the current fiscal which is 19.2 per cent higher than Rs 117.40 crore achieved in 2008-09.

Out of the targeted business in 2009-10, Rs 17 crore is expected to come from business development products like speed posts, express parcels, logistic post, business posts and e-posts and Rs 25.06 crore from the traditional products.

The savings bank account and savings certificates of the small savings products like Kishan Vikash Patras (KVPs), National Savings Certificates (NSC), Monthly Income Scheme and the recurring deposits would account for the balance Rs 97.94 crore.

 

The Orissa postal circle has achieved 71.45 per cent of its target for this fiscal by the end of September 2009, official sources said.

The postal circle had achieved Rs 100.03 crore by the end of September, which includes Rs 6.37 crore in business development products, Rs 7.60 crore in traditional products and Rs 86.06 crore in savings bank account and savings certificates.

The total business of the postal circle in 2008-09 stood at Rs 117.40 crore as against the targeted Rs 121 crore, said sources.
