TN initiative to support dairy

Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday said the state would soon witness a second white revolution. Milk procurement rose to 2.4 million litres a day to 2.7 million litres on Nov 20, 2012, for the first time in the history.

State-run Aavin dairy's income rose to Rs 3,584 crore in 2012-13 from Rs 2,791 crore in 2011-12, she informed the Assembly.

She also announced various projects to support the dairy department in Chennai and other districts of Tiruchy, Vellore, Pudukottai, Villipuram, Salem, Dharmapuri, Dindigual and Salem. These includes coal storage, processing facility worth Rs 95.66 crore.
