The Himachal Pradesh government has urged the Union railway minister to review the decision to discontinue the Delhi-Una and Nangal-Una trains from December 23.

In a letter written to Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister P K Dhumal said the decision to cancel these trains was against the wishes of the people who were availing the services of both these trains. Such a decision had been taken for the first time, he said.

He said foggy weather was not a good enough reason for cancellation of these two trains as this was an annual phenomena across North India. Dhumal said the hill state had been denied its legitimate right in railway expansion since Independence as only 33 km of broad gauge railway network had been built in the state.
