Volunteer force formed to improve civic facilities

"The force will play the role of a watchdog to prevent mushrooming of illegal hoardings, nailing plank of trees, lopping off branches, illegal occupation of public space by hawkers and other people and unauthorised parking," Municipal Commissioner Alapan Bandyopadhya said.     

The force will keep vigil in their respective areas. In case of any violation report, higher authorities of police and KMC will initiate legal action.     

 

"They can provide us with specific information and data and can gently restrain the violators, but beyond that how much they can work as a deterrent force should be decided by the police," Bandyopadhyay said.     

KMC has sanctioned Rs two crore for the project.
