In a move to encourage women entrepreneurs, Bangalore-based public sector lender Canara Bank on Saturday announced the launch of an annual award scheme for successful women entrepreneurs. The bank will give cash awards worth Rs 25,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 1,00,000 for successful women entrepreneurs financed by the bank.
Apart from the award scheme the bank will open 10 all women employee branches to focus on the needs of women clientele.
Speaking at the World Women's day celebration organized by the bank R K Dubey, Chairman and Managing Director, Canara Bank said, “In order to encourage entrepreneurship and reward successful women entrepreneurs, we are launching an annual award scheme for successful women entrepreneurs financed by the bank. We are also dedicating 10 all women branches to provide focused attention to the needs of women clientele.”

The PSU bank also said as a CSR initiative, it would take up a project for construction of toilets in 130 girl schools, 5 each in all its 26 lead district with a financial outlay of rupees one crore.
Canara Bank also said, it would waive processing charges and upfront fee upto a loan of Rs 5 laks under Micro and Small projects for women entrepreneurs and also waiver of processing charges for house and vehicle loans for women for the period from 1st March 2013 to 31st May 2015.
