The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) has sanctioned Rs 793.85 crore to implement various projects in Tamil Nadu.
These include establishment of a dairy-cum-powder plant of 200,000 litre per day of milk and 20 tonne of milk powder in Tiruvannamalai district. The plant would help in processing the surplus milk of Milk Producers’ Unions in Villupuram, Trichy, Salem and Vellore districts. It would benefit about 1 million milk producers.
In addition, projects for construction of ‘pay and use’ sanitary complexes in 14 districts of the state, strengthening of village roads spread over 30 districts, construction of 99 bridges in 23 districts and widening and strengthening of roads in 14 districts have been sanctioned under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.
