Citi on Monday said it had promoted Anand Selvakesari as the head of consumer banking for the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region. Selvakesari has been the head of the bank's consumer banking business in India since July, 2011 and will continue in this role. In addition, he will now be responsible for consumer banking operation in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
“Since assuming responsibility of our consumer franchise in India in 2011, Anand has transformed and restructured the business. Today, Citi India holds a leadership position in cards, wealth management and digital banking, and enjoys record-high brand preference. The franchise is now very well positioned for further growth in the future,” Pramit Jhaveri, chief executive officer at Citi India, said.
Selvakesari, who has been with Citi for 22 years, was the head of the bank’s consumer banking business in China before moving to India. He has also spent a couple of years managing retail banking operation in Taiwan and another eight years in regional roles in Singapore.
