The Minister of State (I/C) for Petroleum & Natural Gas Shri Dharamendra Pradhan informed the Lok Sabha in a written reply that there is no separate Corporate Safety Fund in Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited(ONGC) and Gas Authority of India Limited(GAIL). However, Health Safety and Environment issues are addressed at the highest level with utmost priority by these companies. To ensure safety at work place, necessary resources including funds are provided by these companies to all their work centres.
GAIL is Operator in one onland exploration area in Tamil Nadu. Any fund created during the execution of activities is within the framework of Production Sharing Contract signed between Government of India and the companies participating in exploration work.
