NDRF holds pre-monsoon Coordination Conference to enhance preference with SDRF heads

To enhance the preparedness for ensuing Monsoon, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) held a conference with the head of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), India Meteorological Department (IMD), Central Water Commission (CWC) and all NDRF Unit Commandants here today to discuss pre-positioning of NDRF in the vulnerable locations of flood affected areas and subsequent preparedness of States. During the conference, representatives of States discussed on status of SDRF, locations, prepositioning detail, manpower, availability of flood rescue equipment and tools, good practices adopted by SDRF in flood rescue, identification of vulnerable areas, vulnerability mapping of area, crisis management plan, identification of higher building/places in the state, community capacity by SDRF and subsequent assistances required from NDRF.

Shri R.K Pachnanda, Director General, NDRF inaugurated the conference and stressed the need to preposition SDRF contingents at important locations to respond during golden hours to minimise the losses during disasters. DG, NDRF further asserted to strengthening of SDRF by trained manpower, equipping them with latest equipment to tackle the disaster situations and he also assured to provide every possible help to SDRF. DG, NDRF asked the participants for any assistance to strengthen the Disaster Risk Reduction, some participants raised the point to extend training assistance. DG, NDRF directed to Deputy Inspector General (Training) to plan the training of more batches for SDRF at the earliest.

NDRF remained committed to provide assistance and guidelines for raising State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on the line of NDRF. Apart from this NDRF is role model for disaster response for States and to form State-level Disaster Response Force to tackle State-level emergencies.
