Pinaka Rockets

Government has sanctioned capacity expansion of Pinaka Rockets from existing capacity of 1000 Rockets per annum to 5000 Rockets per annum in April 2013 at a total cost of Rs.1388.80 crore.
There is an additional requirement of new variants of Pinaka Rocket, however these are still under development. The requirement of already developed variants is being catered through the above mentioned project sanctioned by the Government.
Unutilized land of Ordnance Factory Bolangir (OFBL) can also be considered for capacity expansion required for manufacturing the new variants of Pinaka Rocket, when they are successfully developed and trial evaluated.
This information was given by Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh in a written reply to Shri Kalikesh N Singh Deo in Lok Sabha today.
