The brand, which hitherto catered only to men, has also expanded its portfolio by launching womenswear and accessories including bags. "We aim to provide good fits and comfortable easy-to-carry clothing for office-going women," said Charath Narasimhan, chief executive officer, Indian Terrain. Speaking to Business Standard, Narasimhan said the company has set aside Rs 20 crore, part of the funds it raised through the IPO two years ago, to facilitate its retail expansion.
The company opened its first flagship store in Chennai last week. It has invested Rs 1.25 crore into its Bangalore store, on Brigade Road. Apart from these two flagship stores, the company has 28 smaller stores in major cities. Celebrity Fashions, the Rs 350-crore group, exported Rs 275 crore worth apparel for fiscal-ending March 31, 2008. About 80 per cent of its exports are directed to the US whereas Europe is another major market its products.
