India sees more than 5 million foreign tourist arrivals and over 560 million domestic tourists every year.
The tourism industry is projected to grow at 9.4 per cent a year to $275 billion by 2018.
The industry has been given a strong impetus by the government through campaigns such as Incredible India.
Tourism in India provides direct and indirect employment to about 20 million people.
