The union cabinet on Wednesday accepted the 7th Pay Commission (7CPC) recommendations without any significant changes. The government would be spending Rs 84,900 crore including arrears on pay and pensions.
“This will be positive for urban consumption and will push up demand for consumer durables. Additionally, with a normal to above normal monsoon and a consequent higher crop output, India could also see rural consumption getting some boost. This will likely be the second consumption driver for the economy over FY2017-18E,” Kotak Institutional Equity Research said in a note.
According to Angel Broking, the CPC along with favorable monsoon is expected to boost rural incomes thus likely resulting in good times for consumption based players.
Indian Bank, State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur, Punjab National Bank, Dena Bank, Allahabad Bank, State Bank of Travancore and Oriental Bank of Commerce has rallied more than 30% each.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) earlier this month, relaxed guidelines for restructuring of large stressed assets by lenders in a move that would allow the banks to more effectively manage bad loans on their books.
Birla Corporation, Dalmia Bharat, Deccan Cements, Sagar Cements, India Cements, Kesoram Industries, HeidelbergCement India and Prism Cement from the cement sector rallied up to 35% in June, owing to the monsoon’s onset and the government’s focus on infrastructure development.
