Ashok Leyland slips on poor September sales

Ashok Leyland ended weak by 2.8% (Rs 1.2) at Rs 40. The counter clocked comparatively lower volume of around 646,415 shares as against its two-week average traded volume of around 1.12 million shares.

Ashok Leyland declined 1.7% to Rs  41 on the BSE.

The company's total commercial vehicles sales fell 11.87% to 5,452 units in September 2009 compared to 6,186 units in the same month last year.

Domestic commercial vehicle sales stood at 4,813 units against 5,454 units in the same month last year, down 11.75%, the company said in a statement.

Exports were at 639 units, as against 732 units in the same month last year, down 12.70%, it added.

 

Ashok Leyland manufactures commercial vehicles and spare parts. The company also produces special vehicles and engines for industrial, genset, marine requirements and automobile spare parts.
