Base metals eases on reduced demand

Most of the base metals prices eased on the non-ferrous metal market here today in a lacklustre trade on subdued demand from industrial users amid weak trend overseas.

However, aluminium alloy moved up slightly on better offtake from consumer industries. Brass utensils scrap declined by Rs 4 per kilo to Rs 256 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 260.

Copper sheet cuttings and copper utensils scrap moved down by Rs 2 per kilo each to Rs 354 and Rs 343.

Copper scrap heavy, copper armiture, brass sheet cutting and lead softened by a rupee per kilo each to 362, Rs 358, Rs 264 and Rs 107, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, aluminium utensils inched up by a rupee per kilo to Rs 91 from Rs 90 previously.
