Cardamom continued its upward journey for the fifth day with prices rising by Rs 16.20 to Rs 774.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in enlarging positions on the back of strong demand in the spot markets.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for July delivery rose by Rs 16.20, or 2.13%, to Rs 774.90 per kg in a business volume of 909 lots.
Cardamom for delivery in June traded higher by Rs 9.60, or 1.30%, to Rs 750 per kg in trading volumes of 27 lots.
Traders said pick-up in demand in the spot market on hopes of improved export demand mainly attributed persistent rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
