Cardamom tumbles 3% on profit booking

Increased arrivals from the producing regions put pressure on the cardamom prices in futures trade

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices tumbled three% to Rs 647.20 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits amid subdued demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from the producing regions also put pressure on the cardamom prices in futures trade.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for October delivery plunged by Rs 20, or 3%, to Rs 647.20 per kg with a business turnover of 221 lots.

The spice for delivery in November declined by Rs 5.30, or 0.71%, to Rs 735.60 per kg, with a trading volume of 750 lots.

Marketmen said besides profit booking by speculators at existing higher levels, fall in demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom prices in futures market.
