Chana down 0.5% amid sluggish demand

Commodity for delivery in February declined by 0.45%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Chana remained weak in futures trade for the second straight day with prices falling further by 0.59% to Rs 3,045 per quintal today as speculators indulged in reducing positions amid sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in January fell by Rs 18, or 0.59%, to Rs 3,045 per quintal with an open interest of 10,110 lots.

Likewise, the commodity for delivery in February declined by Rs 14, or 0.45%, to Rs 3,089 per quintal in 83,660 lots.

Market analysts attributed the persistent fall in chana prices at futures trade to offloading of positions by speculators on sluggish demand against adequate stocks position.
