Chana up 0.7% on upsurge in demand

Chana prices rose 0.72% to Rs 3,066 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions, driven by upsurge in demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, chana for delivery in January gained Rs 22, or 0.72% to Rs 3,066 per quintal with an open interest of 23,100 lots.
Similarly, the commodity for delivery in February traded higher by Rs 13, or 0.42% to Rs 3,124 per quintal in 82,710 lots.
Analysts said speculators enlarged positions, driven by upsurge in demand in the spot market mainly pushed up chana prices at futures trade.
