Copper marginally down on global cues

Prices were affected as speculators trimmed their positions

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Copper futures for far-month June declined by 70 paise, or 0.16%, to Rs 432 per kg in 167 lots.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the April contract fell by 60 paise, or 0.14%, to Rs 426.65 per kg in 3,279 lots.

Prices were affected as speculators trimmed their positions.

Rising inventories and a drop in US factory orders that fuelled demand concerns triggered weak trend at the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Copper's stockpiles monitored by the LME, up 48% this year, increased 0.2% to 473,750 tonnes, while inventories tracked by the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SFEX) are near a one-year high.

At the LME, the three months' contract traded 1% lower at $7,696 per tonne.
