Copper prices rose by 0.46% in futures trade today, buoyed by a firming trend on the London Metal Exchange (LME) and a pick-up in domestic spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, April copper for delivery was up by Rs 1.90, or 0.46%, at Rs 413.65 per kg, with an open interest for 291 lots.

The February delivery was up by Rs 1.75, or 0.43%, at Rs 409.75 per kg in 6,075 lots.

Copper for three-month delivery gained 0.3% to $7,845 on the LME on the back of a fall in stockpiles at the exchange's warehouses.

Market analysts attributed the rise in copper futures to a firming trend on the LME, supported by a fall in stockpiles.
