The Dow Jones rose 1.4% (109 points) to 8,030. The Nasdaq was flat at 1,627.
Indian ADRs mostly advanced - Tata Motors soared 6% to $7.8. ICICI Bank and Dr.Reddy's surged 6% each to $17.9 and $11.04, respectively.
MTNL added 4.5% to $3.04. Patni Computers, Genpact, Sterlite and HDFC Bank moved up 1-2% each.
However, Infosys plunged nearly 7% to $26.81. Wipro dropped 4.5% to $8.06. Satyam slipped 2% to $1.96, and Tata Communications declined 1% to $23.49.
