Standard gold fell 0.9 per cent to close at Rs 27,900/10g in Zaveri Bazaar, Mumbai on Friday, following a sharp decline in global markets on Thursday.
The commodity hit a two-week low of $1251.5 an ounce in London on Thursday on profit-booking by wary investors in anticipation of a rise in interest rates in the US. Silver closed at Rs 40,000 a kg, down 0.8 per cent.
