Jeera prices gained 0.80 per cent to Rs 12,942.50 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions after pick up in domestic as well as export demand in the spot market.
However, expectations of higher production restricted the gains.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April gained Rs 102.50, or 0.80 per cent, to Rs 12,942.50 per quintal with an open interest of 2,325 lots.

The March contract traded higher by Rs 87.50, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 12,845 per quintal in 7,416 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators after pick up in domestic as well as export demand in the spot market mainly led to rise in jeera prices at futures trade.
