L&T gains on winning Rs 2,002 crore new orders

The company's has bagged orders worth Rs 1,547 crore for construction of bridge across river Mandovi at Panaji.

Larsen and Toubro (L&T) is trading higher by 1.5% to Rs 1,752 after the company said it has won new orders worth of Rs 2,002 crore across various business segments in June 2014.

In past two days, the engineering major said it has bagged orders worth of Rs 4,444 crore.

The company’s heavy civil infrastructure business has bagged orders worth Rs 1,547 crore from the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation for construction of bridge across river Mandovi at Panaji, L&T said in a statement.

The power transmission business has bagged orders worth Rs 392 crore in both domestic and international markets, it added.

On July 1, the company announced that the power transmission and distribution business of L&T Construction has secured a major contract worth Rs 2,442 crore from Bharat Sanchar Nigam, the project implementation agency for the Ministry of Defence.

The stock opened at Rs 1,742 and touched a high of Rs 1,756 on NSE. A combined 509,691 shares changed hands on the counter so far on NSE and BSE.
