The market witnessed high volatility in the first half of the trading week due to uncertainty of elections results. At the end of the week, the value of the Rs 10 lakh invested in Smart Portfolios benchmark, the BSE 200, appreciated marginally to Rs 8.07 lakh as against Rs 7.88 lakh. The benchmark's net worth is now down 19.3 per cent since the inception of Smart Portfolios on September 1, 2008.

In the week under review, only two fund managers - Amar Ambani and Anand Agarwal were active. Cumulatively, they executed 18 trades, nine each on the buy and the sell sides. Their purchases totalled Rs 3.59 lakh, while sales stood at Rs 2.97 lakh, resulting into net buys worth Rs 0.62 lakh.

 

Amar Ambani's net worth has gained 5.4 per cent to Rs 10.54 lakh, Sadanand Shetty's portfolio value has appreciated 1.8 per cent to Rs 10.18 lakh. Anand Agarwal's portfolio has seen a decline of 5.6 per cent to Rs 9.44 lakh while Kashyap Pujara's net worth was down 0.8 per cent to Rs 9.92 lakh.

ANAND AGARWAL
Fund Manager, Reliance Money

Anand Agarwal was the most active manager with 13 trades and also the biggest buyer with net purchases of Rs 35,552. Of the 13 trades he executed, seven were on the sell side.

He sold stocks such as Siemens, Larsen & Toubro, Genus Power Infra. He has added Pantaloon Ratail, Glenmark Pharma and Federal Bank to his portfolio. Agarwal's net worth rose marginally by 0.53 per cent last week to Rs 9.44 lakh from Rs 9.39 lakh. He now holds Rs 6.24 lakh in cash.

Sadanand Shetty remained on the sidelines last week. His net worth appreciated by 1.19 per cent to Rs 10.18 lakh as compared with Rs 10.06 lakh the week before, and he now holds cash worth Rs 6.5 lakh.

All the stocks in his portfolio are also in the green. Among his top picks are Reliance Industries which has helped him net a gain of over 66.6 per cent. Balrampur Chini has appreciated by 32.7 per cent from his purchase price. Godrej Consumer and Areva T&D are up around 30 per cent, each. His investment in the Shriram Transport stock has helped him net gains of 15.5 per cent.

ON THE SIDELINES AGAIN

KASHYAP PUJARA

Kashyap Pujara remained on the sidelines for the second consecutive week. His net worth rose 1.22 per cent from Rs 9.80 lakh to Rs 9.92 lakh, and is now every close to the break-even level of Rs 10 lakh.

Pujara has only four stocks in his portfolio, which are in the green. EID Parry and State Bank of India (up 20.42 per cent and 15.67 per cent, respectively) are adding to his gains. Century Textiles and Ashok Leyland have gained 8.5 per cent and 1.15 per cent each. At the end of the week, he holds cash worth Rs 6.25 lakh.
