All financial markets in India, including stock, debt and commodity, will remain closed today on account of Gandhi Jayanti.

Overnight, Wall Street took the partial shutdown of the US government in stride on Tuesday, but market analysts expected investor patience to run out if it lasts more than about a week as a more worrisome battle looms in Congress over the federal debt ceiling.

After declining seven out of the past eight sessions on concerns about a possible shutdown, Wall Street rebounded on Tuesday as investors viewed the pullback as a buying opportunity in the absence of an extended shutdown.

The Dow Jones industrial average was up 62.03 points, or 0.41%, at 15,191.70. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 13.45 points, or 0.80%, at 1,695.00. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 46.50 points, or 1.23%, at 3,817.98.
