The NSE Nifty touched a low of 4,456 and has since recovered smartly and is now flat at 4,501.
SAIL and Jindal Steel have advanced 3% each to Rs 174 and Rs 2,742, respectively. Reliance Infrastructure and Idea have added around 2.5% each to Rs 1,164 and Rs 77, respectively.
TCS has slipped around 3% to Rs 488. GAIL has dropped around 2.5% to Rs 330. Mahindra & Mahindra is down 2% at Rs 780.
HCL, Suzlon and SBI have declined over 1.5% each.
Meanwhile, Sensex is at 15,168, down 22 points.
Among the sectoral indices on the BSE, the Realty index is down 2% at 3,439. Auto and IT indices have slipped over 1% each.
The market breadth is neutral - out of 2,145 shares traded, 1,047 have advanced and 1,032 have declined so far on the BSE.
