Mentha oil down 0.3% on profit-booking

Analysts said profit-booking by speculators at higher levels, subdued demand put pressure on the commodity

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Mentha oil prices fell by 0.34% to Rs 885 per kg in futures market today on emergence of profit-booking by speculators at existing higher levels, driven by subdued demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

Adequate stocks availability in the physical market following increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on mentha oil.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange market, mentha oil for delivery in January declined by Rs 3, or 0.34% to Rs 885 per kg in business turnover of 26 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in December traded lower by Rs 2.70, or 0.31% to Rs 873.40 per kg in 325 lots.

Analysts said the fall in mentha prices at futures trade was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators at higher levels, driven by subdued demand from consuming industries in the spot market against increased arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh.
