Nickel down 0.2% on weak global markets

Metal for delivery in January eased by 0.14%

Nickel futures prices fell 0.26% to Rs 881.60 per kg today, tracking a weakening trend in base metals in the global markets amid subdued domestic demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, nickel for delivery in February traded Rs 2.30, or 0.26%, lower at Rs 881.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 19 lots.

The metal for delivery in January eased by Rs 1.20, or 0.14%, to Rs 874 per kg, with a business turnover of 689 lots.

Market participants said apart from sluggish demand from alloy makers, weakness in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) on concern that demand will weaken after a gauge of China's services industry fell.
 

Meanwhile, nickel prices fell by 0.50% at the LME.
