Nickel futures for May gained Rs 2.70, or 0.34%, to Rs 791.80 per kg in 6,800 lots.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the June contract rose by Rs 2.10, or 0.26%, to Rs 798.80 per kg in 459 lots.
Prices moved down as speculators reduced their position amid subdued spot demand even as metal strengthened overseas.
