Shares of pharmaceutical companies are under pressure, falling by up to 9% on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
At 1015 hours, CNX Pharma index, the largest loser among sectoral indices, was down 3.9% as compared to 1.2% decline in the benchmark CNX Nifty.
On BSE, the S&P BSE Healthcare index, too down nearly 4% or 576 points against 1% or 254 points decline in S&P BSE Sensex.
Wockhardt (down 9% Rs 888), Glenmark Pharmaceuticals (7% at Rs 713), Torrent Pharmaceuticals (7% at Rs 970), Aurobindo Pharma (6% at Rs 1,027), Lupin (5% Rs 1,349), Strides Arcolab (5% at Rs 842), Biocon (5% at Rs 410), Cipla (4% at Rs 598), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (4% at Rs 800) and Ranbaxy Laboratories (4% at Rs 612) were down more than 4% each on NSE.
