Primary Market Mop-Up Drops 11% In 2002-03

In the worst performance of the primary market, companies mobilised just Rs 5,732 crore through debt and equity issues in 2002-03, which is 11 per cent lower than the Rs 6,423 crore mobilised in 2001-02, according to Prime Database.
Only Rs 1,039 crore was raised through initial public offers, while the rest were bond issues. The number of public issues was also the lowest ever at 14, of which only six were initial public offers.
