Ranbaxy dips after recalling generic Lipitor bottles

The stock was down nearly 3% to Rs 360 on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Ranbaxy Laboratories has dipped nearly 3% to Rs 360 on the BSE, on reports that the company has recalled some batches of its generic version of cholesterol-lowering Lipitor drug in the US after a dosage mix-up was detected.

According to the report, the company voluntarily recalled 64,626 bottles containing atorvastatin calcium (generic Lipitor) tablets after a pharmacist found a 20-mg tablet in a sealed bottle marked for 10-mg tablets, an enforcement report posted on the FDA’s website said.

The stock opened at Rs 369 and touched a low of Rs 358 on the BSE. A combined around 100,000 shares changed hands on the counter in early morning deals on the BSE and NSE.
