Basmati rice prices moved up by Rs 100 per quintal in an otherwise steady wholesale grains market today due to increased retailers demand.

Elsewhere, other grains including wheat, continued to trade in a tight range on restricted buying and closed at previous levels.

Traders said scattered demand from retailers helped rice basmati prices to trade higher.
