Sebi notifies norms for promoters' stake dilution

In a move that could expedite the government's disinvestment process, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Wednesday notified the Institutional Placement Programme guidelines that would allow companies to reduce promoter shareholding through private placement. According to the new norms, even the companies would be allowed to issue fresh equity to institutional investors to dilute the stake of promoters.
