The wholesale oils and oilseeds market today showed a better trend today with prices of select edible oils recovering by Rs 20 per quintal on emergence of buying by vanaspati millers and a firming trend overseas.
Trading sentiments turned better as palm oil rose in global markets after exports from Malaysia, the second-largest producer, increased last month, signalling a revival in global demand for the cooking oil.
Meanwhile, palm oil for the July-delivery contract advanced by 0.8% to $1,102 a metric tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
In the national capital, palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (kandla) oils recovered by Rs 20 each to Rs 5,750 and Rs 5,450 per quintal, respectively.
Likewise, crude palm oil (ex-kandla) traded higher by the same margin to Rs 5,220 per quintal.
Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (kandla) oils also rose by Rs 20 each to Rs 6,120 and Rs 5,770 per quintal, respectively.
