Select edible oil prices rose by Rs 20 per quintal on the wholesale oils and oilseeds market today on sustained buying by vanaspati millers, amid a firming global trend.
Trading sentiments remained firm after palm oil advanced in global markets, tracking an advance in soybeans, after a US government report showed the nation's farmers will cut planting of the oilseed used to make a substitute cooking oil.
Meanwhile, palm oil futures for the June contract rose 1.7% to $1,118 a tonne in Kuala Lumpur.
In the national capital, Palmolein (rbd) and palmolein (kandla) strengthened by Rs 20 each to Rs 5,660 and Rs 5,370 per quintal, respectively.
Soyabean refined mill delivery (Indore) and soyabean degum (Kandla) oils also traded higher by the same margin to Rs 5,770 and Rs 5,730 per quintal, respectively.
Crude palm oil (ex-kandla), too, gained Rs 20 to Rs 5,080 per quintal.

Oilcakes: groundnut dehusk 800-850, sesame 950-1,150, Mustard (new) 1,000-1,025, Mustard 1,200-1,210 and Cottonseed 1,075-1,175.
